Happy Holidays + update on the Sacred Trust Project

Nelson Mandela once famously said: "education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”

We wholeheartedly agree. Two years ago, the Missionaries of Charity (founded by Mother Theresa herself) introduced The Steele Family Foundation to an exciting initiative that we have embraced. The Sacred Trust Project will build and support a school in Tamil Nadu, southern India, ultimately serving 1,500 children who would otherwise not have an opportunity to get an education.

Our trip to India this year truly opened up our eyes to not only the need for a school in the Krishnagiri District (which the state government has identified as having one of the lowest literacy rates in the country), but also the hope and impact this project will have. When we asked the children in Tamil Nadu why so many of them wanted to be teachers when they grow up, the answer was "we want to help the rest of our people in India."

We’re excited about the progress we’ve made: we have secured 7 acres of land designated for the school. Our initial investment along with a generous donation from the Mario Dozzo Foundation has allowed the fencing and water pipelines to be constructed. Next year, we plan to start construction of the school's ground floor. We will invest our own funds and invite others to help support the project by making an online donation* so kids can go to school, get an education and help change the world. To emphasize our commitment, we will be matching all donations up to $500,000. We look forward to sharing the progress of this project with you.

We wish you and your loved ones all the best during this holiday season, a time for peace, gratitude, and joy.

Warmest Thoughts,

Michael, Jennifer and Amanda Steele
